Pokemon Tattoos - Ideas for Every Trainer

Whether you grew up with the games, fell in love with the anime, or just have a soft spot for your favourite starter, a Pokémon tattoo is such a fun way to carry a little nostalgia with you every day. As a tattoo artist who specialises in colourful, fun custom designs, I’ve had the joy of tattooing loads of Pokémon-inspired pieces and I wanted to share some of my favourites and have an excuse to talk about Pokemon.

Where My Love of Pokémon Began

Before I was a tattoo artist, I was a little kid in the ‘90s who desperately wanted Pokémon cards - but they were expensive, and my parents said no (at least at first). So instead of collecting them, I grabbed a stack of printer paper and drew my own. If I couldn't have it, I'd just make it myself. Classic Tiggy.

I didn’t have reference images, (the internet in 1998 was a very different beast), so I just made up my own monsters. I must have drawn about 60 little guys, complete with evolutions and names. I really wish I still had those pages, but they’ve long since disappeared. Still, I think that’s where my love of creating characters and cute creatures really began.

So it’s no surprise that all these years later, I still find so much joy in bringing people’s favourite Pokémon to life as tattoos - some things never change.

Still drawing them to this day - Here are a few of my recent Pokémon prints. Available in my online shop and made with just as much love as my tattoos.

Here are a few I’ve done in the last couple of years - I’ve honestly tattooed so many Pokémon at this point, I wish I could show them all, but to save you scrolling for hours, here are a few highlights:

Custom Pokémon Tattoo Ideas

Not sure what kind of Pokemon tattoos to get? Here are some ideas and inspiration based on previous tattoos I've completed.

• Favourite team from your childhood – Why not get a sleeve of your top team picks, who cares if they don't "match". We'll make it make sense!

• Themed Pokemon – Something sweet and delicious? A mystical kitsune vibe? A cosy water scene? Or maybe a bunch of your favourite cat Pokemon - I got you!
